Terms of use

The agreement between you and Syllabee.

What the app promises, what it deliberately doesn't, and how the subscriptions work.

Effective 1 September 2026. Version 1.0.

01THE BASICS

The short version

  • Syllabee is a planner, not an authority. Your official course outline and your instructor always win. Check anything that matters against them.
  • The free tier holds two courses in your current term and includes everything those courses need, including every correctness feature.
  • New accounts get 14 days of full access. When it ends, nothing is deleted; extra courses become read-only until you subscribe.
  • The semester pass is a one-time purchase that does not renew. The annual plan renews unless you cancel.
  • Apple handles the money. Cancellations and refunds go through Apple, not us.
02SCOPE

The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and Berkan Bozoglu ("Syllabee", "we"). They apply to the Syllabee app, the syllabee.co website, and the services behind them. Installing or using Syllabee means you accept them. If you don't, don't use it.

You must be at least 14 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf.

Syllabee is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated in partnership with Concordia University or any other institution, and nothing in the app is an official communication from your school.

03THE BIG ONE

What Syllabee does not promise

This is the most important section, so it is not buried at the bottom.

Syllabee reads course outlines using an automated system and shows you what it found before anything enters your schedule. It is designed to be conservative: it does not invent dates, and where an outline leaves something undetermined, the app carries it as unknown rather than filling in a plausible guess.

It can still be wrong. A date can be misread. A room change announced in class will not be in the PDF. Outlines say "subject to change" for a reason, and instructors change things.

You are responsible for verifying your dates

Confirm anything that carries a consequence, meaning exams, submission deadlines, and graded work, against your official course outline, your learning management system, and your instructor. Syllabee is not liable for a missed deadline, a missed exam, a grade, or an academic outcome. If the app and your instructor disagree, your instructor is right.

The same applies to the grade calculator. It works from the grading rules you confirmed and the marks you entered, and it is a projection, not a transcript. Your school's official grade is the only one that counts.

Where classmates contribute, such as a shared class schedule or a proposed date for a to-be-announced item, the information comes from other students, not from your school. It is a crowd's best guess and is presented that way.

04WHAT YOU GET

Free, trial, and Plus

Free

The free tier holds up to two courses in your active term, counting both the ones you upload and the ones you join. Those courses are complete: schedule, calendar sync, reminders, grade tracking, schedule amendments, and the prompts that chase down undetermined dates. Correctness is never behind the paywall.

The 14-day trial

Every new account gets 14 days of full access, starting automatically. No card, nothing to cancel; it simply ends. This trial is granted by us, not by Apple, and it is separate from any introductory offer Apple may display.

When it ends and you haven't subscribed, you choose which courses stay active within the free limit. The rest become read-only archives: still visible, still readable, but no reminders, edits, or amendments. Nothing is deleted, and subscribing restores all of it exactly as it was.

Syllabee Plus

Plus removes the course limit and unlocks the features that work across courses: workload analysis, term-wide grade standing, and the live calendar feed.

05BILLING

Prices and billing

All purchases are made through your Apple ID and are governed by Apple's terms as well as ours. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and are charged by the App Store.

Semester pass
A one-time purchase that unlocks Plus for 120 days and then stops on its own. It does not auto-renew. Nothing is charged again unless you buy it again. The 120 days are counted by our server from the moment of purchase; it is a fixed length, not a calendar semester, and it is not tied to any date in your syllabus.
Annual
An auto-renewing subscription covering 12 months. It renews at the same price until you cancel.
Monthly
An auto-renewing subscription covering one month. It renews at the same price until you cancel.
Founding student
A limited launch price for the semester pass, on the same one-time, non-renewing terms. Availability may end at any time.

How auto-renewal works

For the annual and monthly plans: payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends, at the price for the plan you chose. You can manage and cancel your subscriptions in your device's Settings under your Apple ID, at any time after purchase.

If we ever change the price of a renewing plan, Apple will ask for your consent before charging the new price, and you can decline by cancelling.

Restoring purchases

If you reinstall the app or set up a new device, use Restore purchases on the paywall or in Settings. Entitlement follows your Apple ID.

06CANCELLING

Cancelling and refunds

Cancel a renewing subscription through Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future charges; access continues until the end of the period you already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds are handled by Apple under their policy, not by us. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If something in Syllabee went wrong, tell us anyway. We'd rather fix it, and we can support your request.

When Plus ends, the app collapses to the free tier in the same way as the end of the trial: you keep two active courses, everything else becomes a read-only archive, nothing is deleted, and re-subscribing restores it.

07YOUR CONTENT

Your files and your schedule

Your syllabus files, your schedule, your notes, and your grades are yours. We claim no ownership of them.

You give us permission to store, process, transmit, and display that content for one purpose: running Syllabee for you, meaning reading the outline, backing up your semester, sending your reminders, and delivering a schedule you chose to share to the classmates you shared it with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account. We do not sell it, publish it, or use it to train models.

You confirm that you are allowed to upload what you upload. Course outlines are usually the instructor's or the school's copyrighted work; uploading one to organise your own studies is ordinary personal use, but you're responsible for not uploading material you have no right to.

08SHARING

Sharing a class

Sharing publishes the schedule you reviewed and confirmed to anyone holding the link. Before you share, understand what goes with it: dates, titles, locations, and the instructor's name. Not your grades, not your grading rules, not the file itself, and not the instructor's email address.

If you share a class, you're representing that the schedule is what you actually confirmed and that you have the right to share it. Don't publish anything an instructor asked to be kept within the class, and don't use a class link to distribute course materials.

Classmates joining your class see your schedule as a starting point. They edit their own copy; your copy is never changed by them. If you publish an update, they are shown the difference and choose whether to accept it, and their own edits survive.

You can revoke a class link at any time. If you delete your account, classes you created continue to exist without an owner, frozen at their last published version, so the students relying on them are not left without a schedule. Members are told the class has no owner.

09FAIR USE

Acceptable use

Don't:

  • Upload documents that aren't course materials you're entitled to use, or content that is unlawful, harassing, or infringing.
  • Use Syllabee to distribute exam contents, answer keys, or anything else that would breach your school's academic integrity rules.
  • Share a class link publicly to circulate material an instructor restricted to their class.
  • Attempt to access another account's data, bypass the course limit or usage ceilings, or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Scrape the service, run it through automated clients, or resell access.
  • Overload the extraction service, whether deliberately or through automation.

We apply fair-use ceilings on uploads to keep the service running. Ordinary student use will never hit them.

10AVAILABILITY

Availability and changes

Syllabee is provided as-is and as-available. We aim for it to work, and we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Extraction depends on a third-party model service that can be slow or unavailable; the app is built to keep working offline from the copy on your device when that happens.

Features may change. If we remove something material that you paid for, we'll tell you in the app before it happens, and if a paid feature disappears mid-term you can ask us about it. See Contact.

11ENDING

Ending this agreement

You can end it at any time: delete your account in Settings, then delete the app. Cancel any renewing subscription through Apple separately.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, abuses the service, or exposes us to legal risk. Where the situation allows it, we'll warn you first and give you a chance to export your schedule. If we close a paid account for reasons that aren't your fault, we'll refund the unused portion.

12LIABILITY

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Syllabee is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including missed deadlines, missed exams, grades, lost academic standing, or lost data. Our total liability for any claim relating to Syllabee is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.

Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, including consumer protection law in Québec and elsewhere in Canada. Where that's the case, the limits above apply only as far as the law permits, and your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.

13GOVERNING LAW

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes go to the courts of Quebec, except where consumer protection law entitles you to bring a claim where you live. It does, and this clause doesn't take that away.

Language

These terms are available in French and in English. If you reside in Québec, the French version governs and is the contract that binds you; the English version is provided for convenience, and you may choose to be bound by it only after having examined the French version and expressly agreeing to do so. Elsewhere, the English version governs.

14UPDATES

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is material, we'll show it in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect and update the date at the top. If the change is to your disadvantage, you may cancel without penalty by deleting your account before it takes effect.
